This is a lively Bossa Nova style flugelhorn (or trumpet) feature.  It includes an ad lib solo section with a written-out solo for non-improvisers.  A familiar counter melody comes into play a few times -- Going Home from Dvorak's New World Symphony.  A legato & flowing section using longer note values gives trumpet 1 & tuba a rest before the return of the theme at the key change.
