Here are some answers to Frequently Asked Questions.

Q:

What if I didn't receive my download?

A:

The e-mail containing the download link is generated instantly after ordering. That probably means your Spam filter blocked it.  Check your Spam filter.  If it's not there, maybe your firewall blocked it.  Send me an e-mail if you can't find it.

A:

It could also mean that your e-mail address is wrong in your PayPal account.  It could be old, different or misspelled.

Q:

What if I didn't get my PDF attachment?

A:

I send PDF attachments within a day or 2.  Either your Spam filter blocked my e-mail or I didn't send it yet (or I forgot).  Check your Spam filter.  Send me an e-mail on the 2nd or 3rd day after your order.

Q:

What if I didn't receive my order in the mail?

A:

Printed material is usually shipped within a day or 2.  Send me an e-mail 5 days after your order and I'll investigate.

Q:

What if my shipping address listed on my PayPal account is wrong?

A:

If you don't tell me before I ship it, you'll have to pay another postage fee if it's returned to me.

Q:

Why are some selections not available as downloads?

A:

Our initial license with the copyright administrators of certain pieces did not allow digital download sales.  Fortunately these are being replaced little by little.

Q:

How do I get a transposed part for a different instrument (like Bb Baritone sub for Trombone)?

A:

There's a link "Transposed parts can be ordered."  Click on it and fill out the form.  They're only $4 each.
http://www.trumpetunes.com/transpositions.html
Note: You must have purchased the arrangement before you can order a transposed part.
If customized octave shifts are desired in different locations in the part, contact me for pricing.

Q:

What if one of my group members lost his part?

A:

You can order an individual part with the transposed parts order form mentioned above.  Just specify the part.
Note: You must have purchased the arrangement before you can order a replacement part.

Q:

What if my computer was lost in a natural disaster and I have no backup copies of my brass quintet PDF files?

A:

Since that's not my fault, you'll need to repurchase the arrangements.  Use your insurance settlement money for that.  This website doesn't have cloud storage capabilities for customers.

Q:

How is it that your prices are so reasonable?

A:

We have low overhead and we like to provide great arrangements at reasonable fees to our fellow brass players.

Q:

Are the arrangements of selections under copyright legal?

A:

Yes.  We have obtained permission and paid for licenses to publish & sell all copyrighted selections.  In general, everything written since 1923 is protected by copyright.  Compositions written before 1923 are in the public domain (PD) and do not require licensing.

Q:

Do you take requests for arrangements I think should be written?

A:

Sure, send me an e-mail.  One of us may be interested in writing it.

Q:

Do you do custom arrangements?

A:

Zack has been known to do some.  Send me your request and I'll forward it to him.

Q:

What's your basic philosophy or strategy on writing?

A:

We write stuff that we'll be playing; therefore, the material will be interesting, enjoyable, &/or serve a specific purpose.  Also, the pieces won't usually be virtuosic or chop-killers.  We like arrangements that can sound good without having to practice them a lot.  But they are written for professionals so they might be too difficult for high school level players.

Q:

Why don't you have a good professional demo recording of everything in your catalog?

A:

Recordings cost money.  We've made some CDs and have recorded some live performances.  The cheap alternative is a synthesized sound clip.  We do have YouTube videos of over 200 of our brass quintet selections.  Check those out.

Q:

What if I ordered something by mistake or a duplicate?  Can I cancel my order and get a refund?

A:

If it's a duplicate PDF download, I will give a refund.
If it's an arrangement, a book or a CD that has not yet been mailed, I will give a refund.
Please Note: On a full refund, PayPal charges 3.39% + 49 cents.  Therefore, on a $10 purchase, 83 cents will be subtracted from a full refund and $1 from a $15 purchase.

Q:

Who are the arrangers?

A:

Most of the arrangers are people who play together in the Washington DC area either in the Beltway Brass Quintet or Quintessential Brass Repertoire.
Charlie Peterson (me) - trumpeter
Zack Smith - trumpeter and also member of the Dixie Power Trio
Tom Holtz - tuba and retired from the US Marine Band
Kent Baker - French horn and retired from the US Air Force Band
Bob Walters - piano and retired US Air Force Band (deceased)
